Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA)
"Specialist disability accommodation (SDA) is a range of housing designed for people with extreme functional impairment or very high support needs.
SDA dwellings have accessible features to help residents live more independently and allow other supports to be delivered better or more safely.
Participants eligible for SDA:

have an extreme functional impairment or very high support needs

meet the specialist disability accommodation needs requirement and the NDIS funding criteria" (NDIS)
All SDA Dwellings must meet specific design requirements as set out in the SDA Design Standards. Depending on the design requirements met, your dwelling could be eligible for one of the following categories:
Improved Liveability (IL)
Robust (Ro)
Fully Accessible (FA)
High Physical Support (HPS)
As an accredited SDA assessor we can assist you ensuring that your dwelling complies the SDA Design Standards to assist with enrolment and funding from the NDIS.
The compliance phases comprise:

Assessment of the design to determine compliance with the SDA Design Standards and enable design changes to occur.

Issue Design Certification once compliance has been demonstrated to the SDA Design Standards.

As-Built inspection at project completion to verify that the dwelling comply with the SDA Design Standards.

Issue As-Built Certification once finished works has been demonstrated to the SDA Design Standards.
An optional inspection may be undertaken prior to the installation of plaster as a precaution to assess clearances, as it should be recognised that the SDA Design Standards to not accept any tolerances or Performance Solutions.
